Perpetual futures are leveraged derivatives. Leverage multiplies losses exactly as it multiplies gains. At 10x leverage, a ~10% adverse move eliminates your margin; at 50x, ~2%; at 1001x, ~0.1%. Liquidation can occur rapidly in volatile markets, and you can lose your entire deposited margin. Never trade with funds you cannot afford to lose entirely.
Crypto assets, and the perpetual contracts that track them (including gold, silver, equity and forex perps), are highly volatile. Prices can gap, funding rates can flip, and liquidity can thin out — especially outside traditional market hours for TradFi-linked contracts.
Decentralized exchanges eliminate custodial risk but introduce technical risk: smart-contract bugs, oracle failures, sequencer downtime, bridge exploits and governance attacks are all possible. Audits reduce but do not eliminate these risks.
