Wallet & Deposit Guide for Hyperliquid, Aster and Lighter

Know which wallet to install, which chain to use, and which stablecoin to fund before you connect to a no-KYC perp DEX.

Start With a Separate Trading Wallet

Do not connect your long-term storage wallet to a new trading app. Create a separate hot wallet for DEX trading, fund it with only the amount you are willing to trade, and keep a small amount of native gas token on the chains you use.

Best beginner wallets: Rabby, MetaMask and OKX Wallet. Rabby is the easiest for multi-chain trading because it clearly shows the chain, token approval and transaction simulation before you sign. MetaMask has the broadest support. OKX Wallet is convenient if you already use OKX for buying or withdrawing stablecoins.

Deposit routes can change. Always trust the live deposit screen inside the official app over any static guide.

Where to Buy USDC or USDT

If you do not already own stablecoins, you usually need to buy USDC or USDT on a centralized exchange first, then withdraw to your own wallet. These exchanges are separate from the no-KYC DEXs covered on this site: most fiat on-ramps and CEX accounts require identity verification.

ExchangeOfficial SiteUseful ForBefore You Withdraw
Binancebinance.comBroad stablecoin liquidity and many network withdrawal options.Choose the exact chain your wallet and DEX route support.
OKXokx.comGood wallet integration and common USDT/USDC routes for Asian users.Match the withdrawal network with Rabby, MetaMask or OKX Wallet.
Bybitbybit.comCommon for derivatives users who already hold USDT.Check whether the target DEX route prefers USDC or USDT.
Coinbasecoinbase.comEasy USDC access for US and European users in supported regions.Confirm withdrawal fees and supported networks before sending.
Krakenkraken.comRegulated fiat on-ramp for users who prefer a conservative CEX.Withdraw only to a network you can control in your wallet.

Simple path: buy USDC or USDT on a CEX, withdraw it to a fresh Rabby/MetaMask/OKX Wallet address on the right chain, keep gas for that chain, then deposit through the official Hyperliquid, Aster or Lighter app.

Hyperliquid Deposit Setup

Hyperliquid is the simplest if you already have USDC on Arbitrum. Connect a wallet, open the official Hyperliquid app, choose deposit, and follow the app's route into Hyperliquid's trading environment. USDC is the standard collateral for perpetual trading.

New users should send a small test amount first. After it appears in the app, place a tiny low-leverage order before moving larger funds.

Aster Deposit Setup

Aster is more flexible because it supports multiple chains and a broader product set. That flexibility is useful, but it also means you should slow down and match the exact chain and token shown on the deposit page.

If your goal is to trade gold, forex or stock perpetuals, Aster is often the most direct route. Start in the simple trading mode before using Pro or high-leverage features.

Lighter Deposit Setup

Lighter is designed around USDC collateral and zero-fee retail trading. Connect a supported EVM wallet, use the deposit screen to move USDC into the Lighter trading account, and confirm the source chain and gas requirement before signing.

Because Lighter is fee-sensitive, it is attractive for active traders. But you should still check order-book depth on the exact market you plan to trade.

Common Beginner Mistakes

Safe First-Trade Workflow

Install Rabby or MetaMask, fund a fresh wallet with a small amount of USDC, deposit through the official app, place a tiny low-leverage order, close it, withdraw a small amount, and only then scale up.

Wallet and Deposit FAQ

Which wallet should I use for perp DEX trading?
Rabby, MetaMask and OKX Wallet are the easiest browser wallets for most users. Rabby is especially useful because it previews chain, gas and transaction risk clearly before you sign.
Should I deposit USDC or USDT?
USDC is the cleanest default for Hyperliquid and Lighter because their trading collateral is USDC-based. Aster can support several stablecoin routes depending on chain and mode, so check the live deposit screen before sending funds.
Which chain is cheapest for deposits?
BNB Chain, Arbitrum and other L2 routes are usually cheaper than Ethereum mainnet. The correct chain depends on the exchange's current deposit screen; never send funds to an unsupported chain.
Can I deposit directly from a centralized exchange?
Only if the centralized exchange supports the exact token and network shown in the DEX deposit screen. For beginners, withdrawing first to your own wallet and then depositing through the app is easier to verify.
